This week I want to touch on the subject of creating content when you feel MEH (or this emoji—->> 😑 <<—- which, for me, seems to totally capture that lockdown ennui.
For many of us, our children went back to school this week.
I felt that gulp of fresh air, of space, of freedom - and then promptly had a migraine and spent the day in bed.
There is such a collective experience of holding emotion, constant stress, and that familiar groundhog day feeling.
All of which aren’t conducive to sparking creative thinking, new perspectives, and feeling inspired.
This video is an old(ish) one, but is a good reminder that by sharing our stories and our realness, we often create more connection than we realise.
We don’t need to be perfect.
We don’t need to “show up” all the time.
We just need to add to the conversation when it feels possible to do so.
And when it does feel possible? Great, make the most if it. Re-purpose from the content you created when you felt in the zone (or get some help - more info below).
When it feels too much, don’t beat yourself up.
Articulating Feelings
Speaking of ennui and groundhog day, I don’t know about you, but I have been finding it hard to articulate how I feel, sometimes.
Just growling, or slumping around the house in a grump is one thing, but finding words to say “I feel lost, sad, heavy”, or whatever it is you feel, can be so freeing.
The Feelings Wheel can be so helpful for this, even if it just gives you a change from the word “meh”.
As business owners, taking the time to ask our clients and audience how they really feel right now is an incredibly powerful, simple, and human way to connect.
I was also reminded just how much impact sharing from a place of humanity is when I shared a post last week for Endometriosis Awareness Month.
I had so many messages thanking me for sharing my experience, letting me know that I had helped more women to get a diagnosis, and to feel seen.
Creating change doesn’t have to be a massive campaign.
It starts with one conversation, one post, one click.
